I attend a lot of meetings and a lack of input from those in attendance is common. It is typically a small percentage that speak up or ask questions. The rest sit and listen (hopefully!) and often leave with unanswered questions or frustrated with decisions. These same people might grab me after the meeting and express frustrations …some whisper comments to me during the meeting but are unwilling to speak up. I encourage them to ask the question or bring it up myself and give them credit if we are still in the meeting and it seems like a valid thing to ask.
I learned a number of years ago to speak up and ask questions.
I ask if I don’t understand even if it seems silly.
I share my opinion on issues for discussion.
I provide contrary points of view for consideration.
I ask hard questions.
I share solutions and ideas.
You get the point. Learn to speak up and ask questions. Be a contributing member of the meeting.
