It’s time to kill DST

I am not a fan of daylight savings time. I believe it is a hinderance the humanity with a bi-annual disruption of our circadian rhythm. There may have been a point in history when this made sense, but in our modern world it is a tremendous waste of resources and it needs to go.

I hear the same point of view from most people I know yet it does not change. I understand why when there are so many other political concerns in the world, but I would like to see someone take the lead on this agenda and see DST eliminated across the the entire United States.

DST is particularly annoying in Indiana. The state chose the wrong time zone when it elected to take part in DST. We are on the western edge of the Eastern Time Zone …so we get to enjoy sunset around 10:30pm in the middle of summer. As a parent this can be frustrating when you are trying to put kids to bed at 8:30/9:00pm and the neighbor is still mowing the yard or older kids are still playing in the streets …it feels like the middle of the evening.

Overall, I don’t find any value in DST and it is time to kill this dinosaur…
