These two photos demonstrate the difference between good lighting and great lighting. The first image is well composed and exposed and looks very nice. It was taken just a couple hours before the second image as a storm was moving in. I am very happy with the first image.

The second image was taken just after the storm passed. It would have been easy to pack up and call it a day when the storm showed up, but I found a mostly dry spot and waited. I was rewarded with a break in the clouds at sunset lighting up the sky with this beautiful pink color. It is still raining on the far side of the lake, but I really like the drama this lighting created in the scene.

This doesn’t happen often. Most of the time I wait for good lighting and it never shows up, but it is always worth the wait to get photos like this.
